What is The Historical Homes?
The Historical Homes is an independent editorial website managed by Rohit Jurail. We publish stories about historic houses, unusual residences, architecture, and the communities around them, with a particular focus on the United States. Learn more on our About Us page.
Are all the featured homes for sale?
No. Some articles cover properties offered for sale when researched; others feature homes that have sold, are off-market, or are included for their architectural interest. An older article may remain online after a listing changes. Check the original listing and its current representative before relying on an asking price or availability.
Can I buy a house or book a viewing through you?
We do not sell properties, act as a brokerage, take property deposits, or arrange viewings. Use the current listing source or the owner’s authorized representative for purchase enquiries. Do not visit or enter private property without permission.
Where do the historical and property details come from?
Sources vary by article. They may include public records, preservation documents, archives, historical societies, published research, and property listings. Listing material can help with present-day features but is not proof of every historical claim. Our Editorial Policy and Sources & Corrections pages explain the approach.
Why do you use words such as “circa” or “reported”?
Records are sometimes incomplete or disagree. “Circa” means approximately; “reported” identifies information attributed to a source that may not be independently confirmed. A home’s style can also reflect several periods of construction or remodeling. We aim to make these limits clear.
Have you visited or inspected every property?
No. Unless an article specifically says otherwise, do not assume that we have visited the home or independently inspected its condition. Photographs and descriptions cannot establish structural safety, title, exact measurements, or repair costs. See our Property & Real Estate Disclaimer.
How do I find a particular house or style?
Start with the Historic Homes Blog and the category links on the homepage. Collections include Victorian homes, Tudor homes, and architectural masterpieces. Our Guides collection explains broader topics such as house styles and buying an older home.
Can I suggest a property or share its history?
Yes. Send the address or an existing public listing link, explain what makes the property noteworthy, and include reliable sources where possible. If you submit photographs, identify the photographer or rights holder and explain what permission you can provide. Suggestions are reviewed, and publication is not guaranteed.
How can I report a mistake or an outdated listing?
Use Contact Us or email rohitjurail06@gmail.com. Include the article URL, the statement that needs attention, the proposed correction, and a supporting source. A current listing link is helpful for a price or availability update. Please do not send confidential records or unnecessary personal information.
Can I reuse your articles or photographs?
You are welcome to share an article link. For republication of substantial text, contact us about permission. Many photographs belong to photographers, agents, owners, or other rights holders, so permission must come from the appropriate owner. Uses allowed by applicable law remain available; see our Terms & Conditions.
What if I own a photograph or property shown here?
For a copyright, attribution, privacy, or factual concern, send the page URL and identify the specific material. Explain your relationship to it and provide enough information to assess the request. We review concerns through the process described on Sources & Corrections.
Do you use cookies, and how can I control them?
The website uses Google Analytics and may use cookies for relevant site functions. Our Cookie Policy explains these technologies, browser controls, and Google’s analytics opt-out tool. The Privacy Policy explains how information submitted through the website is handled.
